Four students participated in the “AI Tutoring on English Writing Upgrade Award Scheme” held by INSE, HKU Business School, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Rotary District 3450. They were asked to submit a writing based on a topic as a pre-test, and the AI online platform would automatically generate feedback and provide suggestions for improvement in terms of grammar, ideas, sentence patterns and organisation. During the time, students needed to keep revising their writing. In the end, they were asked to submit another writing based on a similar question under teacher’s supervision. Two of the students, Mekka and Emily, managed to get a silver and bronze awards respectively for the best upgrade and progress awards. Mekka’s performance was even ranked 8th in the Top 100 list.
